New Delhi, February 16, 2011 : Bharti Infratel Limited, India's leading telecom passive infrastructure service provider has been awarded the “Green Mobile Award” for Best Green Product / Service or Performance category for its pioneering P7 GreenTowers project initiative. This year's GSMA Global Mobile Awards attracted more than 600 entrants across all categories. The GSMA Global Mobile Awards – one of the most prestigious global awards in the mobile industry.
Infratel's GreenTowers P7 initiative is a comprehensive energy management programme and is a combination of 7 energy efficiency sub-projects. This path-breaking initiative aims to reduce dependence on conventional sources of energy by adopting cleaner technologies for power generation and energy efficiency to mitigate green house gas emissions, while providing connectivity uptime service to telecom operators’ tower sites.

This year’s awards attracted more than 600 entrants, with many high calibre entries across the nine categories. The Green Mobile Award was adjudged on the parameters of pro-activity and tangible progress in terms of eco-friendly networks, policies, environment constructive programmes and initiatives.
