Triple success for Akhil Gupta at CFO Awards for India

New Delhi, November 26, 2006 : Mr. Akhil Gupta, Joint MD and CFO, Bharti Airtel Ltd. won three awards at the first ‘CNBC TV18 CFO Awards for India’ hosted by Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone in UAE. The awards panel voted Mr. Gupta as ‘Best CFO of the Year’ and ‘Best Performing CFO in the Telecommunications Sector’. In addition, Mr. Gupta won the ‘Best CFO of the Year - People's Choice Award’.

On receiving the awards Mr. Akhil Gupta said, “I am honoured to have received these awards, in particular, the People’s Choice Award. These awards are a salute to the highest standards of transparency and corporate governance at Bharti Airtel. I would like to thank the jury members and the viewers for recognising our efforts.”

The 2006 CFO Awards for India have been designed to recognise and reward financial excellence and leadership and honour individuals who have emerged as 'Thoughtful Leaders'. An eminent awards jury panel that included, T.V Mohandas Pai, Director, HR & ENR, Infosys.; Shailesh Haribhakti, Chairman, FPSB India; Sumant Sinha, CFO, AV Birla Group; Dileep Choksi, Joint Managing Partner, Deloitte Haskins and Sell; Subrata Mukherji, MD, ICICI Securities Ltd.; and KK Mistry, MD, HDFC, assessed more than 1,000 CFOs from a range of categories rflecting the diverse nature of finance.
